Grainne Eve is a folk singer/songwriter from Portstewart, Northern Ireland, currently completing a PhD on the Sam Henry Irish folk song collection. Grainne holds a BA and MA in music from Newcastle University, specialising in both performance and Irish cultural music studies. Through her work, Grainne aims to combine fields of research and creative practice, which has led to the creation of her first official album 'The Songs of Sam Henry'.
'The Songs of Sam Henry' was launched on July 8th 2022 at the Riverside Theatre, Coleraine, introduced by TV presenter Joe Mahon. It was introduced live on Raidio Failte as part of Belfast TradFest 2022, and has had airplay on BBC Radio Ulster. 'The Songs of Sam Henry was nominated for NI Music Prize 2022. Grainne's music has also featured on UTV's, 'Mahon's Way', accompanied by an interview on her doctoral work.
